Welcome

You just closed. Here's the place to ask what you should get. Look for a touch-up paint kit, maybe some swag, some coupons and a 360 discount card good for things like a Late Night happy hour at Ruth's Chris and discounts at Joe's Bar and Grill. You'll be getting key cards and transponders for parking. You can get a fob entry key for $25. See the concierge. Please comment here with other newbie tips.

I had a request for a yet to move in buyer, that we post comments on things we found wrong during walk through, moving companies, etc. Personally I think Jim's Moving is the best company ever but small and not all that easy to book. As for things to look for during walk through, well I hired an inspector but still we all missed grout dropouts in the shower, a scratch on the mirror. The inspector did find an element burned out in our water heater. Join in here, those of you who have already moved in, if you wish.

Great Idea to have this blog. How can we let all of the owners know about it? Maybe paste an announcement in the mail room?

I've been passing out cards, but I didn't know if the building management would want me to promote an independent blog.

The address information is very helpful, thank you!

Is there any information you wish you would have known when you first moved in that would be helpful for people who have just moved in or will move in soon?

I wish I had understood who takes responsibility for what. I kept asking the concierges for warranty help, DirecTV help, and other things that are apparently the developer board responsibility until we have a homeowner's board. Now that I know where to expect the stone walls to be I'm better at getting through them. Now that I know that you have to call Atlanta to light a fire under warranty service (especially after the punch list is satisfied). (Get numbers off novare connect.) I know that DirecTV folks will not know you live in a high rise community and you will get a run around calling them: although sometimes you can get help from the guys in the hallway you HAVE to call to get service started or changed and prepare to be frustrated. I did understand before I moved in that the loading dock and freight elevator needed to be reserved. This is important for every delivery of stuff, too, including for remodeling. And you will have interesting times when your guys leave with tools and debris. I learned that although construction workers (and those DirecTV guys) are always in the passenger elevators with tools, carts, paint and junk that *I* will get yelled at if my workmen take a bag of stuff to the dumpster for me or carry a hand saw in the passenger elevator! I'm glad I didn't know about the elevator situation. Because I love living downtown and it might have given me pause in moving here!

When I was given a mailbox key they told me my mailbox number was different from my unit number. Is this true? Or was I misinformed? I have not been in the mail room yet. I assume my address is my condo number, correct? Not the mailbox number they gave me?

Linda Ball said...

Your address is your condo number as show above with apt (or unit) before your number. But your mailbox number has nothing to do with it. When you open the box, the name/unit will be inside.
