A Place for 360 Austin Condo Residents to Share
March 9, 2009
People seem to prefer the Yahoo group for communication. I am going to clean up this blog and incorporate any important info from the message threads there:Yahoo Groups. Join the Yahoo group to chat with neighbors there if you wish.
January 16, 2009 Management has declared the water pressure issue resolved. Some folks received this message from Kenny Peterson:
"We have been able to fix the water pressure problem and have discovered the source of the issue as well. In addition to this we were able to find a quick repair to this should the software issue happen again. (Isn`t technology grand?!) The best part of this is that it only required a 10 second shut off of the water. Please stay in touch with us and inform us of any reoccurrence of this type of issue - we will do our best to fix this as quickly as possible in the future. Thank you very much for your patience and we are very grateful to our wonderful residents at 360 Condominiums!"
January 14, 2009 The Board Election was held last night. Brian Queenin was elected to a three year term. Krystle Copulos was elected to a two year term. Michael Jones was elected to a one year term.
There is a lively discussion on Yahoo Groups. Join to chat with neighbors there.

In case you didn't know--when you replace those dandy little halogen bulbs in your bathroom fixtures, do NOT touch them with your bare hands. That makes them burn out pronto.
Yeah, we've had two burn out which makes me think that the installers touched them. Long-lasting halogen? Six weeks? Hmmm. We've had two other light bulbs blow, too.
BTW-- we had to drive out Burnet Road yesterday to the Light Bulb Shop to get new bulbs for our bathroom.
Does anyone know where we can get halogen bulbs closer to the 360?
OK, I got my case of 18x18x1 air filters by mail and have replaced my filthy one. I was happy they did fit. The Randall's on Lake Austin has many sizes but I didn't see this one.
Our hallway light burned out 3 days after move-in. Should we assume that someone touched the bulb with their bare hands, or should we ask the warranty folks to take a look and make sure that we don't have a short-circuit somewhere?
I think asking warranty about it would be a waste of breath, but you might try. I'm at four bulbs (closet, hallway, two halogens in bath) in ten weeks.
The speaker guys opened up the floor plugs today and found an inch or so of standing, stagnant water. The Novare people came and vacuumed it out. They claimed this got in before the place was sealed. But wouldn't this mean that it got in there after the floor was in and the plates were on OR was ignored by these trades?? Puzzling. It did not seem to be an active leak.
OK, I know people are jealous because we got a free-standing shower and lots of folks had to put them in. But, at least, your door might be installed so that water doesn't leak under it. (This is even AFTER the warranty service.) It isn't a LOT, but still. I couldn't believe that the guy who 'fixed' it just ran two ragged lines of silicone on either side of the bottom rail. He also said 'sometimes the cleaning people clean off the silicone.' HUH?
My HVAC filter has been interesting. When I had my walk through there was a very dirty filter taped haphazardly in front of the intake with that blue masking tape. By the second walk through some sheet metal angles had been screwed on and another filter was in. I needed to replace it rather soon with all the dust about and I couldn't find an 18x18x1 or anything close at the store (one end sticks up so it doesn't really have to be 18, could be more) so I ordered a box online. The unit had this high-pitched whine. The electrician installing my lights said it was probably the filter making the noise. It was! Other people using this same type of filter didn't have the noise. Perhaps the angle of the holder they did contributed. Anyway, the guy said to try a pleated filter. Someone gave me one and voila: no noise. Strange.
