Rules and Regulations

What does it say it those reams of paper you got? Help your friends and neighbors be condo-abiding citizens. No glass by the pool, please.

Anybody else wondering why we can't recycle glass? We have been doing that for many years at our home in central Austin-- (and we have yet to hurt ourselves).

Amen to the comment about glass at the pool, LB. The other night we went out for a look at the stars, plastic cups in hand, and I almost knocked over a huge glass some thoughtful fellow resident had plunked down by my chair.

Found out at the homeowners' orientation - apparently, we can't recycle glass because Waste Management, the recycling company, doesn't currently accommodate it. Same with cardboard. I simply save these items and send them home with my sister for City of Austin recycling.

Yeah, I'm sure our 'green' city would be interested that our 'green' building engaged someone who doesn't recycle glass. You can take it to Whole Foods. Our pack it out to City of Austin pickup houses. A pain, surely.

All this means for the vast majority of our fellow residents is that glass is going in the trash. Very few people will go to the trouble of sacking up bottles and taking them somewhere offsite.

Too bad.
